Small group chat room changes for Week 2

Beginning with Week 2, we've switched the small group chat rooms to a different service, Chatzy. Hopefully this will eliminate the problems for firm librarians who were unable to access the Meebo rooms.

To view a short screencast demonstrating how the new chat rooms work, please go to:
http://cssis.org/w2c2009/screencast/updated-chat-instructions

If you can't make your group's weekly chat session and wish to participate in another group's discussion that week, check the list of small group chat times for one that suits your schedule and contact the group's facilitator to get the URL of the chat room.

If you encounter problems with Chatzy, facilitators can try a couple of other options:

TinyChat
http://tinychat.com/
This allows you to create a temporary chat room quickly. Just send the room's URL to all your group members. If you use TinyChat, be sure to use the save chat option at the end of your discussion because these rooms are temporary and can't be re-accessed permanently. Send the saved chat file to thomas.boone@lls.edu.

FreeConferenceCall.com
http://freeconferencecall.com/
This is a telephone option you can use as a last resort. Facilitators should create an account on the site and create a new conference call, then send the call's phone number and PIN to your group members. While the conference call set up is free, it will still likely be a long distance call for most or all of your group members.

If you have questions about this or any other site problems, let me know.

Thanks,
Tom
