Intro: Flickr

Flickr is an online social network which allows users to upload, organize and store photographs. Subscribers can choose to share photos with family, friends, select groups or the entire world. Flickr has many additional features including email uploads directly from a cell phone to the web or to a user’s blog and a video option to compete with YouTube. Users can also set up an RSS feed which allows designated recipients automatic access to the newly posted photos. Flickr also provides a geography based search feature, World Maps, for searching submitted photos.

Flickr is owned by Yahoo and is one of the most popular photo sharing sites available. It has been in operation for several years and there are numerous “tips and tricks” available on its website in the form of FAQ’s, group discussions, and forums as well as elsewhere on the web. Several “how to” articles have been published about Flickr and the site has been reviewed favorably by leading tech magazines.
